Chico Enterprise-Record, Tuesday, February 6, 1962: "Ralph McClurkin. Ralph McClurkin, 73, Dayton Road farmer and former longtime Orland business man, died last night at Enloe Hospital. He was hospitalized just last night.
"Mr. McClurkin owned and operated the United Cleaners and Troy Laundry in Willows from 1917 until his retirement in 1946. He was born in Princeton, Ind., on Feb. 28, 1888. Reared and educated in Princeton, he moved to Los Angeles where he married Blanche Smith in 1909.
"He was a member of the Willows Laurel Lodge, No. 245, F&AM.
"Following his retirement from the laundry-dry cleaning business in 1946. Mr. McClurkin purchased an almond and walnut farm at Route 3, Box 127, Dayton Road. He operated the farm until his death.
"Survivors include his widow, Blanche; two sons, Robert of Santa Monica and L.H. McClurkin or Oroville; three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Shallenberger of Walnut Creek, Mrs. Betty Ford of Chico, and Mrs. Patricia Scott of Paradise; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Rhodes of Chico; and 12 grandchildren.
"Funeral arrangements are pending at the Timmons-Van Hook Funeral Chapel."
