Text: ***Robert J. G. McClurkin, son of Rev. and Mrs. W . C. McClurkin, a member of the June graduating class of Allegheny High School, was one of the two taking Highest Honors in a class of 170, of which he was the youngest, and was Salutatorian at the Commencement Exercises held on the evening of June 30th at Carnegie Hall, East End, Pittsburgh. He was
also awarded, on Commencement evening, the much coveted medal given annually by the Alliance Francaise for especially meritorious work in French. Robert is a member of Eighth Street, Pittsburgh, congregation.

Text: ROBERT J. G. McCLURKIN
Robert J. G. McClurkin died May 7, 1956, in an Air Force Hospital at South Ruislip, near London, England, of spinal meningitis. He had gone to London early in January, 1956, on assignment from the State Department in Washington, to study for a year at the Imperial Defense College. His family joined him there on April 7. Services and interment were held on May 24 at Rockville, Maryland. Surviving him are his wife and three children, his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Walter C. McClurkin of Coldenham Manse, Walden, New York, and his sister, Eunice L. McClurkin, of Latakia, Syria.

Text: ***Robert J. G. McClurkin has been appointed as assistant director (international) of the Economic Bureau of CAB to succeed John Sherman who resigned to become executive secretary of the Air Coordinating Committee.
McClurkin immediately prior to assuming the CAB post was director of the aircraft division of the Office of Foreign Liquidation Commissioner, which is charged with disposal of war surplus located overseas. Previously he was assistant chief of the air division of the Board of Economic Warfare and Foreign Economic Administration from 1942 to 1945. He has had wide personal observation of transport operations throughout the war through his work with OFLC. Before entering Government service he was a professor of economics at the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania.

Text: ***The Civil Aeronautics Board has announced that it has appointed Robert J. G. McClurkin as director of the Bureau of Economic Regulation. Mr. McClurkin is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Walter C. McClurkin of Coldenham. Mr. McClurkin has served as assistant director (international) of the Bureau of Economic Regulation since October 30, 1946. During this period Mr. McClurkin was a member of the United States delegations to the first and second assemblies of the International Civil Aviation Organization and also served on the ICAO Commission on a multilateral air transport agreement. Prior to his employment by the board, Mr. McClurkin served as director of the Aircraft Division in the office of the Foreign Liquidation Commissioner of the Department of State, where he was responsible for sale of surplus aircraft and aeronautical equipment to foreign customers, and for negotiations concerning disposal terms for non-combat aircraft included in lend-lease settlements.
