ANDREW T. McCLURKEN
Obituary (no source information-this is probably from a clipping from my grandmother, who was the granddaughter of Andrew T. McClurken)
Died at his home at Nobby, Mo., March 4, 1922 at 8:20 p.m., Bro. Andrew T. McClurken. Born at Oakdale, Ill., Washington County, Mary 4, 1846, and departed this life March 4, 1922, aged 75 years, 10 months and 3 days. His first wife preceded him 42 years ago. To this union was born 4 children, 3 boys and one girl. One son departed this life in the year 1895. His second marriage was to Miss Bell Charmicael in the year 1884. To this union was born 7 children, 5 girls and 2 boys. One departed this life in infancy. Jesus said, "Suffer little children to come unto Me and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." Mark 10 XIV Bro. McClurken was converted and joined the Presbyterian church at Spring Valley in Camden County, Mo., in the year 1890 , and always lived a faithful Christian life and taught his children to live in the faith of the God of Daniel and often said when the Lord called him he was ready to go. He left to mourn their loss, his widow and children, Thadd, Todd, Sady, Clady, Della, Nellie, Ethel, Nannie and Johnnie, and 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild and a host of friends.
He came to this country over 40 years ago and located on Rainey Creek and entered a farm which the family owns yet. On this piece of land he put in a water mill and run that for many years, then went to Big Niangua river and bought a large roller mill and run that for a dozen years and sold out and came to Nobby and bought 20 acres of land and put in a flouring mill which is running now. He has been a man of business. He stood high as a business man in the community. The community has lost one of its best citizens. He is not dead but has just shut the door of this earthly tabernacle and gone to live in "That House Not Made With Hands." Dear children, one and all, meet me in heaven. I am gone from earth but not forgotten. I have a crown of life to wear with stars in it and I sing a cheering song, as the preacher said it pays to serve Jesus.
The funeral was conducted by Revs. C.B. Angle and M.T. Hockman to a large crowd of weeping friends.
